Abstract

The Berbera Corridor links the port in Berbera in Somalia to Ethiopia via Jigjiga and Dire Dawa, where it connects to the Djibouti Corridor and on to Addis Ababa. The development of the corridor has been designated a high priority by the government in Ethiopia as an alternative to the Djibouti Corridor, and was named as a priority programme in the 2011 Horn of Africa (HoA) Initiative, and was again included as a high priority in the 2014 World Bank HoA Initiative.
