Title
Cross border transhumance map along Kenya Uganda border
Abstract

Mapping initiative focused on participatory mapping approaches through a series of 3 community mapping sessions held in Karamoja region; Uganda and Turkana & West Pokot; Kenya. This was initiated in late 2016 and validated in 2017 by bringing forth subject matter specialists and cross border pastoral communities, provided for a platform to incorporate spatially local knowledge and perspectives while still integrating modern/current spatial techniques. The initiative was supported by GIZ.

The 14 identified transhumance will then serve as conduits of investments for future corridor development that addresses the needs for the herds and mobile pastoral communities in the provision of services and cross border investments as anchored in the IGAD Protocol on Transhumance.
